Sainsbury’s Programme: Comment on Departing from Frege

نویسنده

چکیده

This selection of essays brings to prominence an approach to semantics that has so far been little publicized and accessible only with special effort. Even though the essays have all been published previously, many of them were scattered in out of the way places such as conference proceedings. Bringing them together between two covers encourages reading them as contributing to one goal: the development of Sainsbury’s programme of a “pared down Fregeanism”. The excellent introduction, which can be read as the manifesto of this programme, shows how the various essays are systematically related. The editors of the International Library of Philosophy should be congratulated for having pursuaded Sainsbury to reprint these essays in this form.
